Daniel Wollmann
Born in 1963 in Rottenburg am Neckar, Germany.
I came to art relatively late in life. In my youth, I trained in forestry and worked in that field for several years before becoming a stay-at-home father and caring for our four children. During this time, I worked from home as an illustrator and later turned to fine art. I studied art, painting and graphic art – see my CV.
Since July 2024, I have been living with my wife and our two dogs on the beautiful island of Mallorca.
About my art
My art is a search — for meaning, memory, and for what connects us at the deepest level. Inspired by Romanticism and its affinity with nature, I work primarily with landscapes — not as depictions of the outer world, but as reflections of inner states. Nature becomes a stage for questions of identity, existence, and spirituality.
My works arise from moments that awaken something within me — a memory, an intuition, an emotional depth. I abstract landscapes, condense them through symbols, and open them up to interpretation. In this way, each painting becomes a snapshot, an expression of my life, my experiences, and my faith.
This faith is free of dogma. It understands life as a process of remembering who we truly are: part of a greater whole that bears many names. In art, I find a language for this — one that points beyond the visible.
Especially in our own time — shaped by uncertainty, upheaval, and a renewed turning toward nature — this space of stillness and the elemental becomes all the more meaningful. For me, nature is more than a motif: it is a living space, a source, a resonant space. A spiritual place from which we are not separate, even though we often forget it.
Through my art, I invite the viewer to look, to feel, and to remember. Perhaps, in some small way, to find a path back — to oneself and to the greater whole.
